Key specifications

Genetics and origin

Black Cherry Punch comes from the Californian cannabis scene — a cross of two established US genetics:

• Blackberry Kush — Afghani × Blackberry, known for dense, resin-rich buds, a deep indica profile and intense berry colours
• Cherry Pie — Granddaddy Purple × Durban Poison, known for its characteristic cherry aroma, fruity sweetness and a euphoric start

The result: a 90% indica hybrid with 25% THC, spectacular violet-purple buds and one of the most complex fruit-cherry aromas among the American indica strains. Our Black Cherry Punch strain is the stabilised, feminized version of this Cali classic. Part of the American Strains collection and the Rare Cannabis Seeds category.

Black Cherry Punch effects

The Black Cherry Punch effects are two-phase — surprisingly balanced for a 90% indica:

• Fast cerebral start — a light euphoria, mood lift, mental relaxation
• Deep physical relaxation — muscles and joints release, a pleasant heaviness
• No couch-lock at moderate doses — despite 90% indica, the head stays clear
• Unwinding — ideal for quiet evenings after a demanding day
• Evening use — a sedating effect sets in at higher doses

Aroma and terpene profile

The terpene profile is rich and instantly recognisable: an intense cherry-pie aroma with fruity berry notes, an earthy base and a hint of wood and pastry. In flower the plant smells of fresh black cherries — grinding releases the full profile.

Growing — indoor and outdoor

Indoor growing

Flowering time 60 days (LED: 53 days). Yield: 450–500 g/m² standard, up to 950–1,000 g/1.5 m² with a 720 W LED — one of the highest figures in the American Strains catalogue. Very well suited to SCROG and LST. Mould-resistant — keep humidity below 50% in late flowering for maximum trichome production. Cool nights intensify the violet tones.

Outdoor growing: UK, Europe, USA and Canada

Harvest in September in the northern hemisphere — earlier than many other indica hybrids, ideal for temperate climates. 0.75–1 kg per plant. The mould resistance is a particular advantage for damp autumn conditions.

• Short seasons — the UK, northern and central Europe, Canada and the northern US: the September finish and mould resistance make it a sound photoperiod choice; cool late-season nights also bring out the violet colour.
• Long seasons — southern Europe, California and the southern US: full-size plants and the upper end of the 0.75–1 kg range.
