Samba Diesel brings together two opposite worlds. From NYC Diesel (New York Diesel), the New York sativa from the Sour Diesel line, it inherits the most recognisable citrus-and-fuel profile in modern cannabis and that clear, long-lasting cerebral high. From Pé de Pato — Portuguese for “duck foot”, a Brazilian duck foot strain — it inherits something no commercial sativa offers: a webbed leaf with fused leaflets instead of separate fingers, which looks nothing like the classic cannabis leaf. The result is a citrus sativa with a long-lasting effect and the look of an ornamental plant. It belongs to our American strains and our sativa seeds.
With 22 to 27% THC depending on phenotype and growing conditions, Samba Diesel is one of the most potent sativas in the Pyramid Seeds range. In the stronger phenotypes the potency shows mainly in the intensity and duration of the high rather than in body load. CBD is low (< 1%), as you would expect from the Diesel line.
Pink grapefruit and lime dominate over a fuel base that gives away its Diesel origin, with a sweet, slightly sour background. In flowering the plant gives off an intense citrus scent that fills the room; when you grind the buds, the gasoline comes through. On the palate it is bright and sour on the inhale, with a sweet-citrus return and a lingering kerosene finish.

Flowering takes 65–70 days (60 under LED). Yield is 400–450 g/m² under standard conditions and up to 750–800 g/1.5 m² with a 720 W LED. As a sativa-dominant strain it stretches hard after the switch to 12/12: flip early and use SCROG or LST to keep the height under control. The webbed leaves form a denser canopy than usual, so selective defoliation helps light reach the lower buds — see our guide to topping and pruning cannabis. The citrus smell is very penetrating: a carbon filter is a must.
Harvest in mid-October in the northern hemisphere and mid-April in the southern hemisphere. 0.5–1 kg per plant in the ground. It prefers mild, sunny climates such as the Mediterranean coast; in damp autumns, keep an eye on the denser buds on the lower branches. With its unusual leaves, the plant looks more like an ornamental shrub than a typical cannabis plant.

Not exactly. Its parent NYC Diesel comes from the Sour Diesel line, which gives it the citrus and fuel aroma; Pé de Pato adds the webbed leaf and the ornamental look.
A duck foot strain has webbed leaves in which the leaflets are fused into a single blade instead of being separate like on a typical cannabis leaf. Samba Diesel inherits this trait from Pé de Pato — “duck foot” in Portuguese.
